THE ANUSARA YOGA IMMERSION PROGRAM
Founded by John Friend in 1997, Anusara Yoga is a profound, effective, and elegant hatha yoga system that blends the ancient art of yoga with the science of biomechanics. It features Universal Principles of Alignment, a non-dual Tantric philosophy, and a celebration of the full-spectrum and limitless potential of life as a whole.
John Friend has organized and inspired a deeper level of study of Anusara Yoga through the new Immersion curriculum, which is offered in recognition and affirmation that the path of yoga is one of life-long study. The Immersion is an invitation to both committed students and aspiring teachers to deepen their practice in a supportive, playful, and welcoming community - where each individual's gifts and curiosity is honored and celebrated.

The Immersion is an effective way to deepen ones personal sadhana (spiritual/life practice) and overall understanding of yoga and the Anusara approach. Although the material covered is highly informative, diverse, and in-depth - the Immersion Program is designed not as a Yoga Teacher Training and is not directly addressing teaching methodolgy.
Designed for both aspiring teachers and committed yogis who want to deepen their experience of Anusara Yoga, the Immersion offers a comprehensive curriculum of at least 108 hours. The full Immersion Program is a pre-requisite for those who would like to apply to any Anusara Yoga Teacher Training program worldwide. It is open to yoga practitioners who wish to deepen their yoga journey and ideal for those embarking on or continuing their Anusara yoga path.

IMMERSION PART I & II in Thailand February 2009
FACULTY
Main teacher is Jonas Westring, PT, E-RYT 500, licensed physiotherapist in his native Sweden and in the USA. He is a certified Anusara Yoga® teacher who began yoga studies in 1981.
A teacher of yoga and bodywork since 1996 and of Anusara Yoga since 2003, Jonas has studied with John Friend since 1999. He is a former core faculty member for Integrative Yoga Therapy and other training programs and now teaches at venues worldwide.
With one foot rooted in the timeless teachings of yoga and the other in clinical environments, his teaching transmits the essence of yoga through clarity, precision, mindfulness and joy.

The Anusara Immersion may also have guest teachers contributing certain aspects of the teachings. For instance, in the upcoming Anusara Immersion Part I in Chiang Mai, Thailand, a Thai Buddhist monk has been invited to introduce Vipassana meditation.
Drawing from various cultural, inspirational, and spiritual practices is an important aspect of the inclusive approach of Anusara Yoga.
