anusara yoga®

anusara
yoga® was established in 1997 by john friend, a highly talented and respected yogi and yoga educator. anusara is one of the fastest growing yoga systems in north-america and is now spreading rapidly around the world. the anusara tantric
philosophy takes the premise that everything in creation is supreme
consciousness. spiritual awakening is seen as an ever-expanding process
of recognizing that our true nature is already perfect, full, and
lacking nothing. this higher knowledge naturally fuels our deepest
desire to serve the creative flow of life through each breath and
posture in our yoga practice
the sanskrit word anusara (a-nu-sar-a) translates as 'flowing with
grace' or 'following the heart'. by aligning with
the laws of nature both 'on & off the mat', we can experience a
tremendous sense of joy & freedom in our lives
the Level I, II and III anusara yoga syllabi covers over 300 yoga asana: all of the commonly practiced hatha yoga key
poses are organized in syllabi according to their degree of challenge,
from beginners to advanced. they are systematically and progressively
sequenced to help students of all levels advance in their practice. anusara
is an exceptionally therapeutic yoga system that integrates universal principles of
alignment, balanced energetic action in asana, and celebration of life
itself
an holistic form of hatha
yoga,
anusara integrates the
science of biomechanics with the timeless teachings of yoga
philosophy. its universal
principles of alignment™ can be integrated into any activity,
including other hatha yoga systems and movement disciplines, yet the
name anusara
yoga® can only be used by teachers affiliated with john
friend's organization
anusara
strives to build community amongst yoga practitioners, known as the kula,
or 'community of the heart'. aiming to create a genuine, supportive, fun, and non-competitive
practice environment, the kula concept adds one of numerous keys to the
success of anusara yoga. practitioners experience joy and fulfillment
while getting together to explore yoga practices in a creative, dynamic
fashion
there
is a vision of totality where everybody is seen as equally divine in
every part, and the bodymind complex is honored as a vessel
through which each persons unique radiance can shine
