METHODOLGY
Approaching the Thai tradition from a perspectives of both the East and a West, the Thai Yoga methodology is precise, clear, and bio-mechanically safe. Students systematically develop and refine their hands-on techniques and sensing abilities in order to create optimal and lasting results. The practitioner turns the session into her own body-mind practice, receiving personal benefit while providing a powerful healing treatment.

FACULTY
Jonas Westring's background for therapeutic bodywork is exceptional. Combining past clinical work in physiotherapy with decades of experience in yoga and the healing arts, his approach has been appreciated by thousands of students over the years. With the Thai Yoga method he has pioneered the evolution of the Thai healing tradition in the USA and Japan.

As a way to solidify and deepen their Thai Yoga practice, senior Thai Yoga students support our training programs as TA's (teachers' assistants).

Some people said:

"Jonas’s peace, confidence, grace, and inner stillness shines through his teaching, his personality, and his music. He inspires and motivates through his presence; and his quiet tolerance for others is a great example of compassion"
Ken Pataky, Psychotherapist

"He is a master! Jonas teaches with such clarity and detail, his technical knowledge of yoga asana is so thorough. His presence is grounding, and I feel very safe with him.
Sarah Savoy, Illustrator

"Jonas has a true gift of healing through Thai Yoga. One leaves with not only an open and relaxed body, but an open heart and mind as well."
Suzy Hurley, Anusara Yoga Teacher

"For the past five years, Jonas has been a member of our Integrative Yoga faculty and has consistently maintained the highest professional standards. We recommend him highly."
Joseph Le Page, Integrative Yoga Therapy

"The Thai Yoga training was one of concise, clear, and intentional information, presented in a way that the heart could receive just as much as the mind... a spiritual experience... thank you Jonas!"
Terrel Broussard, Herbalist, Bodyworker

"Thai Yoga releases toxins and strains from deep tissues, and help the body recover from illness. Jonas is smart, sensitive, and able to combine a finely tuned respect for boundaries with penetrating massage."
Sherry Salman, PhD Jungian analyst

THAI YOGA PRACTITiONER CERTIFICATION

The innovative style of therapeutic hands-on techniques known as Thai Yoga Bodywork draws from three main established traditions. The result of combing these three rivers of knowledge is an extraordinarily effective healing modality.

In 1998 Jonas Westring created a Thai Yoga Training Program which he began teaching it at established venues in the USA, such as Kripalu Center and the Omega Institute. He has continued to teach and develop this program ever since.

THE THREE TRADITIONS

  • Rooted in Buddhism, the Thai massage tradition offers an amazing array of several hundreds highly effective therapeutic hands-on techniques.
  • The art and science of the ancient wisdom tradition Yoga turns Thai Yoga treatment sesssions into a form of transformational applied yoga therapy.
  • Physiotherapy and its scientific understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathology, biomechanics, and clinical applications makes Thai Yoga understandable and safe.

THAI YOGA INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOPS

THAI YOGA EXPERIENTIAL
This workshop gives participants a good taste of what it's like to both receive and give Thai Yoga. Come by yourself or bring a partner for a fun, educating and rejuvenating experience.

THAI YOGA BASICS
CEU: 6 contact hours
This daylong workshop cover the Thai Yoga basics. A complimentary handout depict a Thai Yoga sequence of 20 techniques taking 30-40 minutes to deliver.

THAI YOGA ESSENTIALS
CEU: 14 contact hours | Prerequisite: None
Offered as a weekend format this course covers the essential elements of Thai Yoga. More than 30 fundamental techniques applied in the supine, prone and seated positions provide a comprehensive introduction to the Thai Yoga Method. This introductory sequence of Thai Yoga techniques, clearly explained in a complementary workbook, forms a 1-hour session.

THAI YOGA CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

LEVEL I: THAI YOGA FOUNDATION COURSE
CEU: 35 contact hours | Prerequisite: None
This first level of Thai Yoga is the basic foundation for Thai Yoga Certification and covers a full 1.5-hour sequence in the supine, prone and seated treatment positions. Here we study the primary principles of the Thai Yoga Method, learn about the tradition from where it has sprung, and set a strong foundation for a professional practice. The complete sequence is clearly depicted by text and photographs in the Thai Yoga Certification Manual available at the seminar.

LEVEL II: THAI YOGA BASIC COMPLETION
CEU: 35 contact hours | Prerequisite: Thai Yoga I
The second level of Thai Yoga introduces an entire new sequence that together with the Level 1 material forms a complete Thai Yoga routine in the northern style of Thai massage. The Level 2 material includes a full sequence in the side position, inversions, arms, hands, and abdominal core techniques. The full (Level I & II) sequence includes well over 100 positions and takes approximately 2.5 hours to deliver.

After Thai Yoga Level I & II + completion of 20 required documented practice sessions, students will have the Thai Yoga Basic Certificate.

LEVEL III: THAI YOGA INTERMEDIATE
CEU: 45 contact hours | Prerequisite: Thai Yoga I & II
The third level of Thai Yoga is leading to Advanced Thai Yoga Certification. It covers intermediate level techniques and addresses the traditional Thai massage energy pathways. Concepts from western manual medicine are addressed. This course introduces a whole new sequence of 50+ intermediate level Thai Yoga techniques to add to the repertoire. Here we also review and refine aspects of techniques from Thai Yoga Level I & II.

LEVEL IV: THAI YOGA ADVANCED
CEU: 45 contact hours | Prerequisite: Thai Yoga I, II & III
The fourth level of Thai Yoga address more variations and advanced Thai Yoga techniques. We study Thai pressure points, inversion therapy (flying Thai Yoga), face, head & scalp massage, Ayurvedic marma points, the 5 lines of the arms, the traditional energy pathways, and more.  This course covers principles of ethics in professional one-on-one situations and emphasizes the relationship between ones own personal and professional healing practice.

After this course the students have completed the required contact hours of the Thai Yoga Advanced Certification. Completion of the full curriculum will make the student a
Certified Practitioner of the Thai Yoga Method.
