many names are used to describe the ancient hands-on bodywork modality from
thailand. just as there are many branches and schools of yoga,
likewise
there are many approaches to the thai tradition. we prefer the label thai yoga bodywork, as we feel it is a more accurate description of
the many techniques used in the thai tradition. further, our system is specifically called
the thai yoga method. we focus on honoring the thai
tradition while incorporating the science of biomechanics
and adjunct perspectives from yoga
the thai yoga method (TYM) is based
on the northern style of thai massage as evolved in the chiang mai
province of thailand over many centuries. the thai yoga method's unique approach
stays true to the traditional form
while adding perspectives from
both yoga and biomechanics to further optimize the treatment session
yogic
practices nicely complement and enhances this type of bodywork,
especially since it is done with both people on a floor mat. as
the practitioner mindfully "dances" around her client, she
incorporating yoga poses, breathing techniques, and meditative mindfulness
practices. this supports her ability to maintain seamless awareness of movement
and energy throughout the entire thai yoga session
the knowledge of biomechanics greatly support the therapeutic aspects of
this healing modality. as the practitioner trains in understanding
what the techniques actually do do the joints, muscles, fascia and bones
- the structural therapeutic effects of the thai yoga method can be
highly transforming and powerful. as safety of each technique
become a major focus, the receiver can let go and release places of
holding on deep levels in the bodymind complex
lastly, the people of thailand
have an ancient buddhist tradition dating back 2000 years and nuad boran has
always incorporated meditation as an integral aspect of its practice. mindfulness and
loving-kindness meditation help to bring the bodywork session to a focused and deeper level,
benefiting the client as well as the practitioner on their journey
toward
optimal clarity, energy, balance and well-being
