We know that you have already taken plenty of
yoga trainings! It is also true that in order to
advance in your teaching, to better serve your
students and yourself on the path of yoga -
more in-depth study is necessary.

Combining Anusara Yoga, Physiotherapy (PT)
and Therapeutic Bodywork - we take an
in-depth look at structure, movement and
function within the context of yoga.

  • ANATOMY - identify and palpate key musculo-skeletal structures and relate them to yoga

  • KINESIOLOGY - the science of Human Movement clarify the actions created by our muscles

  • MOVEMENT PATTERNING - discover common habitual tendencies and how to create change

  • INJURY PREVENTION - learn about injuries we come across in yoga and how to avoid them

  • THERAPEUTIC APPLICATIONS - effective tools and techniques to heal imbalances and injuries

  • ASSISTING & ADJUSTING - hands-on techniques to stabilize, mobilize and optimally align the body

THE THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
HOW YOGA REALLY WORKS!

A training in Yoga Therapeutics that empower and equip yoga teachers with a toolbox of knowledge
to more skillfully approach the complexity of issues that arise in yoga around the world today.

ANUSARA YOGA

Its emphasis on biomechanics and empowering philosophy that bring fourth the goodness and beauty in all people and in all things, students all over the world are taking their practice to the next level.

YOGA THERAPEUTICS TRAINING

These trainings deepen and expand yoga teachers and serious yoga students understanding of body dynamics in yoga asana. Using an approach based on the Universal Principles of Alignment of Anusara YogaŽ, Physiotherapy/Physical Therapy, and Therapeutic Bodywork - we investigate the nuts and bolts of the body by taking an in-depth look at structure, movement and function within the context of yoga. Furthering the exploration of our inner-workings, we also touch upon associated energetic and psycho-emotional patterns that impact our well-being and capacity to live a life of balance and happiness.

AREAS STUDIED IN OUR APPROACH TO YOGA THERAPY

YOGA AS THERAPY REQUIRE A BALANCING ACT BETWEEN THE SCIENCE AND THE ART OF YOGA.
TO ACCOMPLISH EFFECTIVE AND LASTING THERAPEUTIC RESULTS MANY ASPECTS OF OUR BEING
HAS TO BE CONSIDERED. THIS FRAMEWORK OFFERS A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT.

  • 1. Functional Anatomy & Kinesiology
The study of essential musculo-skeletal structures in the body: key muscles and their attachments, major muscle groups, muscle tendon, joints, skeletal bony landmarks - and looking at their association to both acute and chronic problems in the body.

  • 2. Assessing Movement Patterns
Identifying and evaluating imbalances and therapeutic problems that arise in yoga practice and through everyday living. Training the eye to look for assymmetries, both gross and subtle - as having a good map of the territory creates an essential base for any therapy.

  • 3. Alignment Principles & Action
Analysis of the biomechanical alignment and muscular actions in all major categories of poses. Emphasizing how specific muscles and muscle groups correlates to the asana and the therapeutic value of the poses.

  • 4. Therapeutic Problem Regions
Categorize and address the most common problem areas of the body including the feet, ankles, knees, hips, pelvis, SI joints, spinal column, shoulder girdle, elbows, wrists and hands.

  • 5. Hands-on Assisting & Adjusting
Principles of manual techniques and range of therapeutic tools that stabilize, mobilize and align the body so that it can return to a balanced place, free from stress. Ranging from subtle suggestions and cues, to deeper mobilizations of joints, muscles and tendons.

  • 6. The Nervous System & The Breath
Assessment of breathing patterns and the use of pranayama techniques to address imbalances in the nervous and respiratory systems. Application of stress-reducing practices includes yoga asana, yoga breathing, guided deep relaxation techniques (Yoga Nidra) and meditation.

  • 7. Fundamentals of Ayurveda
Drawing from basic Ayurvedic principles (Science of Life) such as Dosha and Guna, we apply measures based on an individualized approach. Suggesting lifestyle modifications according to each persons individual constitution rather than "cookbook treating" everyone the same way.
